Watch: The Force Awakens cast, The Roots, Jimmy Fallon sing Star Wars medley

Just when you thought there probably wasn’t anything more to say or do with Star Wars: The Force Awakens besides seeing the movie (did you watch the SportsCenter special on lightsaber duels?), Jimmy Fallon and The Roots come up with something creative, fun and delightful.

Tuesday’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon featured a video of the cast from The Force Awakens performing a medley of Star Wars music a cappella with Fallon and The Roots, all of whom were shown in a “Brady Bunch” style grid. Showing off their musical talents were Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. (Would you have loved being in the room when they asked Ford to do this?)

That’s an attempt at a dry, technical description of the clip. Watching it is a whole lot more fun.

So damn catchy.

I’m not sure which Star Wars actor I love most in this. John Boyega does a great cymbal clash. Adam Driver somehow makes “The Imperial March” endearing. Gwendoline Christie is adorable with her playful sneer. And Oscar Isaac… well, the idea of one of this generation’s greatest actors bopping Star Wars music is just amusing as hell.

Poor Chewbacca doesn’t seem to know how he got talked into this. And even Admiral Ackbar is trapped in this clip! But really, the look Fisher and Ford give to each other at the very end that “Can you believe we’re doing this?” expression of incredulity is the pièce de résistance. Wonderful work from all involved. How fun would it be to see this play mid-credits at the end of The Force Awakens?
