Watch: Oscar Isaac sings Bill Murray’s Star Wars theme from SNL

Oscar Isaac is already a highly regarded actor among many movie fans and critics. But with his role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse, he might break into the cultural mainstream into outright celebrity very soon.

Being featured on the cover of GQ could certainly be an indication of the direction Isaac’s career is headed. A whole lot of people will see him — and immaculately dressed — on newsstands and magazine racks throughout the country. Along with that cover story, GQ also posted a video of Isaac — who showed he’s quite the musician in Inside Llewyn Davis — singing the Star Wars theme as popularized by Bill Murray’s lounge singer Nick Winters on Saturday Night Live in the late 1970s.

This guy has a future ahead of him, I think. No wonder he’s in that new Star Wars movie. We might be looking at a future EGOT winner here. Listen to how he worked new characters like BB-8 and Kylo Ren into the song.

Unfortunately, a video of Murray’s version of Star Wars isn’t available online, which is terribly vexing. If we were keeping a time capsule, I’d want that clip in there. You can watch a very blurry video here. But if the audio is good enough for you, take a listen:
