Zack Snyder tweets out Justice League image of Amber Heard as Mera

A little more stuff from the Justice League production keeps leaking out each week, keeping hope alive and increasing anticipation for Warner Brothers’ DC Comics superhero team-up blockbuster. Last week, director Zack Snyder tweeted out a sizzle reel to commemorate the end of principal photography for the film. Five days later, he gave the fans a little bit more by tweeting out an image of a previously unseen character.

Amber Heard will debut as Mera, one of Aquaman’s fellow Atlanteans in Justice League. Here’s the first look at her in costume, courtesy of Snyder:

In the DC Comics, Mera has ties to an alien dimension, eventually becoming the wife of Aquaman and the Queen of Atlantis. She has the ability to control water and form it into hard objects. Maybe Snyder was alluding to that by using the word “hydrokinetic.” Or that was just his fancy way of saying she’s a kick-ass warrior who lives underwater.

It’s unknown how large a role she will have in the film beyond an introductory appearance. But the character will play a greater part in the Aquaman film, directed by James Wan (The Conjuring) and scheduled to be released in 2018.

Justice League will hit theaters on Nov. 17, 2017.
