Video: John Oliver explains the U.K. to Cookie Monster

John Oliver and Cookie Monster are on their way to becoming the internet’s next great comedy team.

The HBO host and Sesame Street character paired up in early September for a news special on words. Now, the two are back for the latest edition of The Furchester Hotel, a joint venture between Sesame Street and CBeebies, the BBC’s preschool network.

Oliver and Cookie Monster use this forum to bridge the gap between the U.S. and the U.K., to teach the people about the similarities their countries share. But there are a couple of differences, especially when it comes to language and vernacular, particularly with one thing meaningful to Cookie Monster.

Biscuit Monster just doesn’t have the same ring to it, though it does perhaps sound a bit more dignified. At the very least, he might show a touch of restraint when gobbling down his favorite treat. But Cookie Monster mentioned he got a passport and work permit for the U.K., so maybe he’s ready to change his habits. This could be the Muppet version of Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown.

Meanwhile, when will Cookie Monster make an appearance on HBO’s Last Week Tonight? Or would such a thing even be allowed?
