Sleater-Kinney is releasing their first new album in nine years on Tuesday (Jan. 20), titled No Cities to Love. The video for the title track features a bunch of the band’s famous friends, which is a great way to attract attention for a new song even if new material from Sleater-Kinney warrants enough interest on its own.
Fred Armisen (who might as well be a honorary member of the band, starring with Carrie Brownstein on Portlandia), Sarah Silverman, Ellen Page, The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, Andy Samberg, Brie Larson, My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way, Miranda July, Connie Britton, Natasha Lyonne and Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis are among the many people recruited to sing along for this new video.
No Cities to Love is currently streaming on NPR and can be purchased through Sub Pop beginning Jan. 20 in digital, CD and LP formats. You can read reviews of the new album at Rolling Stone and the New York Times.
Sleater-Kinney will also kick off a tour Feb. 8 in Spokane, Wash. You can see all of the dates and cities at the band’s official website (though many of the shows are already sold out).
