The MTV Movie Awards haven’t been must-see pop culture viewing for quite some time. But hiring comedian Amy Schumer as this year’s host has rekindled some interest. Here is the first promo for the show, which features Schumer and Anna Kendrick. (Warning: The last three seconds are probably NSFW. You didn’t let us down, Schumer!)
I don’t know about you, but I’m more interested in the MTV Movie Awards with Schumer as host than if Chelsea Handler had gotten the gig. (Even if that may have been a joke.) This promo provides a delightful example of Schumer’s cringe-inducing, self-deprecating humor and the clueless persona she often adopts in her comedy.
By the way, if you’re a fan of Schumer, her interview with Brian Koppelman on his Grantland podcast is highly recommended. It’s a fun, insightful conversation that reveals a lot about working in comedy and writing for movies and TV.
