The Daily Show was already going to be a different program in the next six to 12 months, with Jon Stewart announcing his departure. But the rest of the on-air staff will have some new faces as well.
That said, I am ecstatic to announce that I’m about to make another great show over @tbsveryfunny 2/2

One week after Jason Jones announced he was also leaving Comedy Central to develop another show for TBS, Samantha Bee is following her husband to that network. However, Bee’s project will be separate from the family comedy she is executive-producing with Jones. (Bee also wrote the series’ pilot episode.)
Bee had been mentioned in several articles speculating upon Stewart’s possible replacement. Obviously, that’s not going to happen now. And she’ll be an indirect competitor with whomever hosts The Daily Show next. (Conan O’Brien’s show has the 11 p.m. ET time slot on TBS.)
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bee’s new venture at TBS sounds as if it will be similar to The Daily Show. She’ll be the host “and bring her smart and satirical point of view to the series.” Until production begins on the new show this summer, Bee will continue to file pieces for The Daily Show. The series is aiming for a fall premiere.
