David Hasselhoff joins increasingly epic ‘Sharknado 3’ cast

Like the cultural phenomenon the Sharknado franchise has become, the cast for the third chapter in this epic trilogy continues to grow.

A week after Dallas Mavericks owner and Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban won the role of our nation’s president, and ESPN’s Michelle Beadle successfully hashtagged her way into the production, Sharknado 3 may have nabbed its biggest star yet.

David Hasselhoff has been cast in the shark storm sequel, according to Variety. He will play the father of Ian Ziering’s character, Fin. Also cast in the Syfy schlock franchise are Bo Derek, Ann Coulter, Chris Kirkpatrick, Chris Jericho and Jerry Springer. Oh, and Tara Reid. Of course, she’s in this thing. It’s not Sharknado without her.

Given Hasselhoff’s past performance on Baywatch, let’s hope he plays a former or even current lifeguard when the Sharknado makes its way down to Florida. It just makes too much sense not to happen. But really, it would be even better if Sharknado 3 somehow proves Norm Macdonald’s theory: Germans love David Hasselhoff.
