Will Dwayne Johnson bring ‘The Rock Obama’ back to ‘SNL’ on March 28?

Saturday Night Live is taking a three-week hiatus after the March 7 episode hosted by Chris Hemsworth. (Here is Jeremy Klumpp’s recap.) Yet it seemed a bit strange that the show was going into its break without announcing who the next guest host would be when returning on March 28.

One weekend later, we know who’s getting the gig. SNL announced on Friday (March 13) that Dwayne Johnson would host the next episode. He’s got two upcoming movies to promote, with Furious 7 set for release on April 3, followed by San Andreas hitting theaters on May 29. The latest trailer for the earthquake spectacle was released this week.

This will be Johnson’s fourth time hosting SNL. The last time he was in Studio 8H was in 2009 and performed in the memorable sketch “The Rock Obama.” Personally, I’m hoping he revisits that character this time around. The president’s frustration with Congress is certainly still timely. Although Key and Peele have kind of staked out that territory now with Luther, Obama’s anger translator.

Besides, rocking out on Republican senators in the Oval Office won’t be quite the same without Andy Samberg’s Rahm Emanuel egging the president on to get angry.
