We’ve seen what Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman will look like in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. (By the way, that movie is set to open one year from Wednesday — March 25, 2016.)
But we haven’t seen any glimpses of the story’s bad guys. That is, until now. Entertainment Weekly, which is under the Warner Brothers corporate umbrella, posted a photo of Jesse Eisenberg as Superman’s arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor. Here he is, in all his bald glory.
Well, there’s certainly no question that Eisenberg who has a healthy head of curly hair is going bald for the role. Luthor has traditionally been bald in the comic books, cartoons and movies, but there was some concern that Snyder and Eisenberg might go for a different interpretation. So much for that.
Fans were also curious about Snyder picking a younger actor to play Luthor, who has typically been the same age or older than Superman in previous portrayals. But this version of Luthor is reportedly going to be a precocious tech billionaire type, much like Mark Zuckerberg, whom Eisenberg played in 2010’s The Social Network. (Or maybe that’s just an easy, lazy comparison for movie bloggers and fans to make.) According to the director, this is going to be a different version of the character we’re accustomed to.
“He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure, other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course.
“Our Lex is disarming and he’s not fake. He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there.”
