We knew Jon Stewart was leaving The Daily Show, and chances are it was going to be before the fall. An earlier exit became even more likely when Comedy Central tabbed Trevor Noah as Stewart’s successor, reducing the need for him to carry the program through the summer.
But now we have an exact date for Stewart’s departure. At the end of Monday’s Daily Show, the comedian announced that Aug. 6 would be the last night he would be sitting at the fake news anchor desk.

(It sounds like he’s willing to do so.) Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the Night of Too Many Stars charity, which benefits autism.
Will we know all of the candidates who have decided to run for president in the 2016 by Aug. 16? Perhaps not. But Stewart doesn’t appear to have much tolerance for going through another presidential election (or that it wouldn’t be much different from the other four he’s covered), which he told The Guardian was one factor in his choice to leave The Daily Show behind.
