The CW network releasing a poster image of the cast for its new superhero series, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, was just the beginning of a big push for the show, set to premiere in early 2016.
Hours later, the network revealed who the story’s villain — billed as “an immortal threat” — will be. And we guessed correctly when the first press release was issued. The bad guy will be Vandal Savage, a longtime adversary of the Justice League and its individual heroes in DC Comics.
But for those wondering what Legends of Tomorrow and its ensemble of characters would look like (especially unknowns like Ciara Renee’s Hawkgirl and Arthur Darnell’s Rip Hunter), the CW has provided that for viewers and fans with a trailer establishing the cast and the series premise. Take a look.

So the trailer definitely gives us an idea of what we’ll be seeing, with Hunter leading the team through different stages in time to battle Savage or whatever else arises. While CW provided an impressive amount of footage, there’s still plenty we don’t yet know about the show. For instance, who’s playing Savage? And as pointed out earlier, we still don’t know what exactly Franz Drameh’s character will be.
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim did mention that the first season will be 13 episodes, half of what Arrow and The Flash run for. But this ensemble, with perhaps an anthology-type format, is certainly an experiment. And with the amount of characters and effects that the stories likely call for, it’s probably best to keep the run limited and make each episode as best as it can be.
CW President Mark Pedowitz also revealed that Arrow and The Flash will have crossover team-ups every season, as happened this past year. Some characters from Legends could certainly take part in those events.
