Watch: Chris Pratt shows Conan O’Brien his acting range for ‘Jurassic World’

If he isn’t already The Big Thing, Chris Pratt is certainly The Next Big Thing, coming off his starring role in Guardians of the Galaxy and following it up with the lead in Jurassic World.

Going from a supporting player on Parks and Recreation to headlining summer blockbusters certainly demonstrates Pratt’s range as an actor. But perhaps there’s no better display of the craft than having to act against nothing, to pretend that something eventually created by CGI is in the scene with you. While talking to Conan O’Brien Thursday night, Pratt showed three of the faces he used to get the job done acting with dinosaurs (and Bryce Dallas Howard) in his latest film.

ACTING! Yet Pratt and Conan do raise a very interesting point about portraying emotions on screen, not just because your face can be blown up to huge proportions in close-ups, but also because going overboard with an expression or gesture can take an audience out of the moment — especially for what can amount to a cutaway in a big action sequence.

Maybe next time, Pratt can share his three talk show faces with Conan or any other host he’s on with during late-night.
