Watch: Maya Rudolph imitates Rachel Dolezal on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’

One of the unfortunate things about the summer especially from a comedy standpoint is that when a strange or funny story breaks in the news, Saturday Night Live isn’t around to make fun of it. Something even more unfortunate is that Maya Rudolph is no longer a cast member on SNL.

Fortunately, we have Seth Meyers on during the summer and Late Night with Seth Meyers isn’t very far from Studio 8H in Rockefeller Plaza. And as a former SNL head writer, he surely has a sense of what would make a good skit, what people are asking for, etc.

So when he had Rudolph on his show Monday night, the opportunity for the biracial comedian to make fun of Rachel Dolezal, the now-infamous white woman pretending to be black, presented itself and she did not disappoint.

OK, poking fun at Dolezal’s feigned misunderstanding over being asked about her ethnicity is pretty easy. But when it’s Rudolph providing the blank look and befuddled answers — with an exaggerated dose of cluelessness — while wearing a curly wig, it’s pretty damn funny.

Keep bringing Maya back, Seth Meyers. She’s too good to keep from us. Don’t deprive us of summer laughter.
