By now, you’ve surely seen the new trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from Comic-Con. It’s probably been hours since the last time you watched it, so why not check out Liam McGuire’s breakdown after you’re done here. If you haven’t seen it yet, how have you managed to avoid it? Do you just not want to watch it? If so, why are you reading another post about Batman v Superman?
Anyway, about two-thirds of the way through the trailer — after our first glimpse of Gal Gadot in action as Wonder Woman — we see what appears to be Batman stalking through the desert in goggles and a trenchcoat. Two seconds later, we see Batman fighting a group of soldiers with Superman’s “S” logo on their shoulders.
But wait a minute — Batman in the desert in a special outfit? Is that really happening? Is that really The Dark Knight out in the open air, fighting in the sand? That’s not some sort of imposter, is it?
No, that appears to really be Batman. And Ben Affleck in that special outfit which will probably result in some action figures and statues. Photographer Clay Enos posted a close-up photo of Affleck in the desert gear.

Why would Batman still wear his cowl in the desert? Hey, he still has to conceal his identity. Bruce Wayne would be recognizable wearing a pair of goggles. Besides, he’s Batman. He’s wearing the cowl! And did we mention this is sure to be a special action figure or statue that is likely to be a hot item among collectors?
It’s possible this could be some dream sequence or a very short part of the film. But let’s hope not, because that desert outfit looks pretty damn cool. And the fight scene with those soldiers (Superman cultists) looks exciting too. What is the story with that personnel anyway?
We’ll probably have to wait until March 26, 2016 for all the answers, when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters.
