Oscar Issac, Olivia Munn in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ costumes on Entertainment Weekly cover

Comic-Con attendees got their first look at Oscar Isaac as the title villain of next spring’s X-Men: Apocalypse with a poster and some very poor quality leaked footage from the film’s Hall H presentation.

But those of us who weren’t in San Diego now have an official look at the X-Men’s latest adversary, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly‘s newest cover. We also get our first look at Olivia Munn as Psylocke, in the costume that required her to be lubed up before squeezing into. Check it out.

Isaac is absolutely unrecognizable as Apocalypse, and some fans might object to him not looking much like the character as he was portrayed in the X-Men comic books. But he certainly looks fearsome, and the entire ensemble alludes to the villain’s Egyptian roots, as the very first mutant who came into existence 5,000 years ago.

There can’t possibly be any such objection to Munn, who pretty much looks exactly like Psylocke from the comics, complete with purple hair and skimpy outfit.

One other thing the EW cover seems to confirm is what was reported out of Comic-Con: Apocalypse has his four horsemen who protect and fight for him, and obviously help carry out whatever world-dominating scheme he has planned.

Given that the villain has a hand on the shoulders of Psylocke and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto, the trio appear to be on the same side. The other horsemen are reported to be Archangel (Ben Hardy) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp), two characters that are being rebooted and reinterpreted for this latest X-Men film.

X-Men: Apocalypse comes to theaters on May 27, 2016.
