Video: Bradley Cooper may make you sick with longing in ‘Burnt’ trailer

Ten years ago, Bradley Cooper played a star chef in a TV adaptation of Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential for Fox. The show only lasted for four episodes, in part because of being put on hiatus during the MLB playoffs.

Cooper has obviously gone on to far bigger and better things, but the idea of playing a rock star chef whose self-destructive tendencies nearly ruined his career apparently still holds some appeal. In Burnt, the three-time Academy Award nominee portrays a previously renowned chef trying to revive his career in Paris. Here is the trailer:

This film was formerly titled Adam Jones, a terribly boring title that did little to sell the movie. (Plus, what if people thought it was a biopic of the Baltimore Orioles center fielder? Why is everyone cooking in Paris? Where’s Camden Yards?) Prior to that, the project was actually called Chef, but Jon Favreau’s 2014 film obviously got to theaters first with that title.

Along with Cooper, the impressive cast includes Sienna Miller, Emma Thompson, Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), Uma Thurman, Daniel Brühl (Rush), Omar Sy (Jurassic World) and Matthew Rhys (The Americans). John Wells (August: Osage County) is the director, with the screenplay written by Steven Knight (Locke).

Burnt hits theaters on Oct. 23.
