During the heat of the summer (July 16, to be exact), comedian Jim Gaffigan began his Contagious Tour, which opened up in Seattle, Washington, and is now making his way to the east coast.
It is the second consecutive year that writer, producer and general funnyman Gaffigan is starring in a cross-country tour. Last year, Gaffigan’s food-inspired tour, rightfully named, Food: A Love Story, was a result of his best-selling book from 2013.
For fans in the Oklahoma area, the chance to see the successful stand-up comedian is fast approaching. Two of Gaffigan’s tour stops are rolling through Oklahoma this week: September 11 at the Riverwind Casino in Norman, Oklahoma; and September 12 at Winstar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
According to TotallyTickets.com, the second of two shows will cost more for fans on the secondary market, but not by much. Jim Gaffigan tickets on September 11 have an average ticket price of $93.50 and a get-in price of $83, while the following night, the average ticket price is $101.99 with a get-in price of $58. These are the last two shows Gaffigan will perform in the month of September, before hosting a slew of shows in Massachusetts in October.
The two shows in Oklahoma are in the bottom tier of pricing relative to his previous stops on tour. The Contagious Tour had five performances in July that sported an average ticket price of over $175, not to mention three stops in August with average ticket prices of $170 or higher. However, the Oklahoma shows are not the cheapest available, as there were eight shows with average ticket prices under $85.
Gaffigan’s string of success isn’t slowing down anytime soon, as his self-titled sitcom has hit television screens across the country to coincide with the beginning of the Contagious Tour. The combination of his best-selling book in 2013, cross-country tours in 2014 and 2015, and the start of his new sitcom being aired on TV Land has Gaffigan very much cementing his standing as one of the true emerging names in comedy.
