With the new fall TV season beginning, FOX gave its Monday night shows a push by debuting teasers for its limited series revival of The X-Files during Gotham and Minority Report. But a full trailer had to follow and the network made one available on Tuesday, giving us our first look at agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) in 13 years.
Are you ready to believe again? Will Mulder and Scully pull you back in as they attempt to expose our government’s greatest cover-up? Here is the full trailer for the new version of The X-Files:

The trailer starts out like a bad political ad with images of satellites, nuclear war, riots and soldiers marching. Fortunately, the sight of aliens quickly lets us know that this will be something of an escape from the real world. In addition the thrill of seeing Mulder and Scully again (with a brief glimpse of Joel McHale), we also get a look at director Walter Skinner and Cigarette Smoking Man, one of television’s more iconic villains of the past 20 years.
One of the disappointments of the original X-Files series is that creator Chris Carter never provided answers to the many questions and conspiracies he presented during the series’ nine-season run. This trailer certainly seems to indicate that these six new episodes will serve the overall mythology previously established, rather than just give us more aliens and freaks of the week. Would Duchovny and Anderson (not to mention Carter) have returned if there wasn’t a point to this revival, other than getting the band back together again?
The X-Files premieres Jan. 24, 2016 following the NFC Championship Game on FOX.
