Watch: Netflix, Marvel show more ‘Jessica Jones’ in second trailer

With 10 days until Netflix debuts its second Marvel series, Jessica Jones, the network has released a second trailer.

The first one, released three weeks ago after a variety of teaser videos and images, set the dark tone for the series, making it clear this show was taking place in the same world as Daredevil. This second preview keeps it dark, but reveals a bit more about the title character (played by Krysten Ritter) besides the fact that she has superhuman strength — particularly that she’s troubled, loves to drink and doesn’t do well with other people. Give it a look:

This new trailer also gives us a much better look at the villain of the series, David Tennant’s Killgrave (or Purple Man, which is referenced in the color palette), and what he can do to people, including Ms. Jones. In addition, we see a bit more of Luke Cage (Luke Colter), who will have his own Netflix series after Jessica Jones, along with Carrie-Anne Moss and Rachael Taylor in supporting roles.

There are rumors we might see Daredevil make an appearance, but I suspect it will be Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) out of costume, as was the case in the original comic book series, published by Marvel from 2001 to 2004 and now available in digital format online and in trade paperback collections. The Jessica Jones character has to stand alone, and judging by the trailers, it looks like Ritter does a fine job with that.

Jessica Jones premieres on Netflix Nov. 20, with the entire 13-episode season available at 12:01 a.m. PT.
