We always love a guy who can laugh at himself and doesn’t take himself too seriously. Fortunately, Scott Stapp now seems to be in that good place after enduring a rather disturbing public breakdown over the past couple of years.
With the movie Creed being released in theaters on Wednesday (Nov. 25), there have been some jokes pointing out that this isn’t a story about the post-grunge, Christian-tinged rock group that peaked in popularity during the late-1990s, but instead follows the son of fictional boxer Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis, played by Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station).
In this Funny or Die video, the former lead singer of the band Creed apparently experienced much the same confusion in filing this movie review. Give it a look:
All right, that “Can You Take Me to the Movies” theme song is pretty catchy, and I’ve had difficulty getting it out of my head for most of the afternoon. But again, the important thing is that Stapp is willing to poke fun at Creed’s overly serious videos with guitar solos on mountaintops and singing on the edge of steep cliffs. We’re just glad that he’s doing OK.
The only thing that would have made this video better was a cameo from Michael B. Jordan or Sylvester Stallone. But those guys are probably a bit busy right now. And probably best not to add to any potential confusion.
In the meantime, we’re looking forward (with arms wide open) to Stapp’s review of Assassin’s Creed before that film hits theaters on Dec. 21, 2016.
