‘Community’ will premiere sixth season March 17 on Yahoo Screen

The sixth season of Community is happening. And it will premiere on Yahoo Screen March 17 with two episodes. Subsequent shows will be posted on Yahoo (we can’t really say they’ll “air,” since we’re not talking about TV, right?) every Tuesday. The season will consist of 13 episodes.

Here is the announcement from the cast, courtesy of the Yahoo Tumblr:

There have been some cast changes, which you may have noticed in that video. Yvette Nicole Brown, who played Shirley, decided not to return for Community‘s sixth season because of her ailing father. Meanwhile, Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) is joining the cast as Frankie Dart, a consultant brought in to improve things at Greendale Community College. Keith David (Enlisted) is another addition. He’ll play Elroy Patashnik, a failed inventor who decides to enroll at Greendale for a career change.

Moving from NBC to Yahoo has made for a freer environment, according to show creator Dan Harmon. “The corset loosens a little bit,” Harmon told reporters, including the Hollywood Reporter‘s Natalie Jarvey, at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. “There’s a little, tiny bit more Britishness to the comedy. It’s a little freer.”

So with the sixth season soon under way, will a movie be far behind?
