‘Fargo’ casts Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons for season two

FX’s Fargo was one of the best TV shows of 2014, in my opinion, which amps up the anticipation for a second season. Showrunner Noah Hawley envisioned the series as an anthology with completely different stories from season to season. So we won’t be seeing the further adventures of Sheriff Molly Solverson. But we will be getting a look into her family’s past.

Season two of Fargo will focus on Solverson’s father, Lou (played in season one by Keith Carradine), and a case he investigated in Sioux City, S.D. as a state police officer in 1979. This could be the case that Lou alluded to when talking to Molly in season one, the case that forever changed his perception of people and outlook on life. The role of Solverson has yet to be cast, but the other parts on the show are being filled.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad, Friday Night Lights) have been hired as series regulars. The two will play a young married couple experiencing something of an identity crisis. Dunst’s character, especially, struggles with what traditional society expects of a woman.

FX announced that Fargo‘s second season will premiere in Fall 2015. Once again, the season will consist of 10 episodes.
