Jon Stewart is certainly having some fun during his final months as host of The Daily Show. Not that we ever should have worried that he would take himself too seriously, but getting involved in a feud with WWE star Seth Rollins? That almost seems more like a Stephen Colbert move.
But in Stewart’s defense, Rollins started it! The wrestler declared he could take over as host of The Daily Show and “make that thing actually watchable.” Or he could also be the president. Whichever he prefers. Anyway, the gauntlet was thrown down. Rollins threw it down yet again by crashing The Daily Show to invite Stewart to appear on the next episode of WWE Raw (March 2).
Monday night, Raw viewers saw that Stewart took Rollins up on his invitation. And maybe did a little more than anyone would have expected.
Wasn’t that fun? Prior to his Raw appearance, we’d only seen Stewart take down the likes of CNBC’s Jim Cramer and former Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Oh, he also figuratively kicked Paul Begala and Tucker Carlson in the balls when he appeared on CNN’s Crossfire in 2004 and basically killed that show.
