After getting back on the pop culture radar with 2005’s Sin City and reminding people what a great actor he could be in 2008’s The Wrestler (a performance which earned him a Best Actor Academy Award nomination), Mickey Rourke didn’t quite have the comeback or renaissance that many expected for him.
Maybe that had something to do with him badmouthing Marvel after giving him a villain role in Iron Man 2. Even if Rourke’s gripes were valid, taking that stuff public — years after the fact — doesn’t do anything for his reputation. He made that grudge wholly clear when appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers in August to promote Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

The 62-year-old actor is returning to one of his old pursuits, one which possibly derailed his acting career to begin with and certainly led to the multiple plastic surgeries that messed up his once-pretty-boy face. Rourke is going to start boxing again.
As reported by the Associated Press, the actor will face Elliot Seymour in Moscow on Nov. 28. (He mentioned just returning from Russia in that interview with Meyers, and the AP report that Rourke travels to Russia frequently, probably because he’s dating a Russian model.)
Rourke fought in eight professional matches during the 1990s, and was an amateur boxer before finding success as an actor.
