NBC has ordered a pilot for a ‘Bewitched’ follow-up series

Nostalgia, reboots and updates continue to dominate TV and movie culture. The latest example of this is NBC ordering a pilot for a Bewitched follow-up.

The series will focus on Daphne, the granddaughter of Samantha (the main character of the original show, played by Elizabeth Montgomery) and daughter of Tabitha. She’s in her twenties and using her magical powers to create the perfect life for herself. Apparently, she’s on a quest for love.

Hopefully, she eventually finds herself in the same sort of marriage that Samantha and Darrin Stevens enjoyed.

According to Deadline, the pilot drew a bidding war between NBC and ABC. ABC ran the original Bewitched series from 1964 to 1972. The network also created a spinoff, titled Tabitha, which was broadcast from 1977 to 1978 with Lisa Hartman as the title character.

If this update helps us forget the awful Bewitched movie that Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell subjected us to in 2005, it will be even more welcome.

Oh, sorry — you already cleansed that thing from your memory, didn’t you? (That is, if you bothered to see it in the first place.) We didn’t mean to bring it back, even if only for a few seconds. Twitch your nose and make it disappear.
