With the fifth season of Louie set to premiere Thursday night (April 8) on FX, it’s probably long overdue for the show’s opening credits sequence to be parodied. Maybe there have been other parodies, and I just haven’t seen them. Or maybe combining Star Wars and Louie is much more likely to attract my attention.
Courtesy of Nerdist, here is Chewbacca (or “Chewie,” as he’s known to his friends) playing the part of Louis C.K. in that familiar stroll down the streets of New York City, scored by the catchy theme music we all know and love.
Like Louie, Chewie doesn’t even finish the slice of pizza he buys on the way to his comedy gig, taking a few bites while standing in a doorway and watching people walk by. That’s something which has always bothered me about these credits. That has to be good pizza because it’s New York pizza.
I suppose only a regular New Yorker would toss part of a slice away because he or she can have it all the time. (I am probably even more sensitive about this, as someone who has to lay off pizza on a low-carb diet. Not being able to eat pizza often makes me roar like Chewbacca.)
