Last weekend, Universal Studios released a teaser for the Jurassic World trailer. Not a teaser trailer, mind you, but something with clips from the full trailer. Like a 15-second trailer for a trailer. I resisted the impulse to check it out and post it here at The AP Party. Because, really, we have to draw the line as an audience somewhere, don’t we? Trailers for trailers seems like a good place to start.
Anyway, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, here is the full trailer for Jurassic World, an update to the Jurassic Park movie franchise. The words “genetically modified hybrid,” spoken by Bryce Dallas Howard, have never seemed so fearsome and ominous. Watch out for those dinosaurs, Chris Pratt!
What I like about the footage seen here is that we see “Jurassic World” being an actual theme park with thousands of visitors, rather than a project in the planning stages or a failed endeavor that was shut down. The Sea World-like exhibition with an aquatic dinosaur devouring a shark brings that home.
I also love that the trailer preserves some mystery. What does that new dinosaur look like? I’m probably delusional, but I hope we don’t see the creature until it’s revealed in the actual movie.
Jurassic World, directed by Colin Trevorrow and produced by Steven Spielberg, opens in theaters on June 12, 2015.
