Video: The Other ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Sketch ‘SNL’ Cut for Time

With Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson hosting, you knew Saturday Night Live would have its fair share of jokes at the expense of the highest-grossing movie of the first two months of 2015. While one sketch, “Press Junket,” did air on Saturday’s episode, another was “cut for time.”

The cut Fifty Shades of Grey sketch is an HBO First Look into the second film in the series, Fifty Shades Darker. Kyle Mooney portrays Christian Grey, the male protagonist of the series, who is showing Anastasia Steele (Johnson) around a new playroom he is having constructed by the Renzetti Brothers (Bobby Moynihan and Taran Killam).

While “Press Junket” relied more on the shock of a child seeing Fifty Shades, “New Playroom” relies heavily on sight gags for its laughs. This also may explain why Kenan Thompson was absent for most of the episode since he was apparently stuck in a sex swing.

Saturday Night Live returns this Saturday, March 7 with host Chris Hemsworth and musical guest Zac Brown Band.
