Video: Former ‘Twin Peaks’ cast voices support for David Lynch

Whether or not Showtime intends to follow through with plans for a revival of 1990s TV series Twin Peaks hasn’t yet been announced. But in the view of former actors from the show which ran on ABC from 1990 to 1991, it’s just not Twin Peaks without series co-creator and director David Lynch involved.

On Sunday (April 5), Lynch announced he was leaving the show because he couldn’t get the budget he wanted from Showtime. But according to him, the cable network hadn’t canceled the production, implying it was still moving forward. That inspired actor Mädchen Amick to get videos from her fellow cast members saying what Twin Peaks would be like without Lynch’s involvement.

Of course, if you didn’t watch Twin Peaks — either during its original run 25 years ago, on video or streaming online — who those people are and the references they’re making to their characters and/or storylines probably isn’t going to make much sense. But for fans of the show, seeing Sheryl Lee, Sherilyn Fenn, Kimmy Robertson, Peggy Lipton, James Marshall and other former members from the cast is kind of cool.

It should be pointed out, however, that only Kyle MacLachlan was officially signed on for the new show at this point. At least as far we knew. Maybe a few of these actors are hoping to earn some goodwill from Lynch and get their characters added to the show if he decides to return and Showtime yields on budget.

In the meantime, this two-minute video from Amick might be the closest thing we get to a Twin Peaks reunion for the foreseeable future.
