If you heard that an octopus attacked a crab and pulled it underwater, you might figure that tentacles popped out of the water, ensnared the crab and yanked it below the surface, right? Would you have ever guessed that the eight-tentacled beast would actually jump from the water, smother the crab and wrestle it into the deep?
Well, witness this video of just such an incident taken by someone in Australia.
As Deadspin’s Greg Howard points out, the octopus is not just a creature hanging out below the water and waiting to be made into calamari. An octopus has a beak that can pierce the shell of a crab. It paralyzes victims with venom. And then it will suck that prey right out of the shell to eat it, Jim. No messing around.
Note to Batman and Superman: Aquaman doesn’t just talk to fish. That’s all I’m saying. And Syfy now has a franchise to replace Sharknado when it’s ready. Let’s see an octopus eat Tara Reid like that.
If I were the dude from Oldboy, I’d also be watching my six for a revenge attack. Don’t get too close to the water.
