OK, it’s probably true that we’ve given an undue amount of attention to Olivia Munn’s upcoming role as telekinetic ninja assassin Psylocke in next summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse.
But she has geek cred from her days co-hosting Attack of the Show, and going from breakout roles like Sloan Sabbith on HBO’s The Newsroom to a superhero film represents a jump in a young actor’s career. And as you know if you read The AP Party regularly (thank you for that, by the way), we tend to like the superhero stuff.
So as long as Munn is going to post videos of her training for that X-Men role to her Instagram account, we’re probably going to repost and share those clips.
Besides, there’s also a sports component to Munn’s training videos (not an unimportant consideration, as a member of the Bloguin network): As with a previous video in which she showed off her sword skills, Munn’s boyfriend — Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers — is in the background doing his own training. In this case, Rodgers is getting his boxing on. That should probably be a warning to NFL pass rushers during the season to come.
X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled for a May 27, 2016 release.
