Video: ‘SNL’ Cut Kyle Mooney’s Bruce Chandling For Time

This week’s Saturday Night Live cut for time sketch stars Kyle Mooney’s stand-up comic character Bruce Chandling. Chandling bombs at the Gotham Comedy Club, gets mocked by his fellow comedians, runs into Kevin Hart backstage, and wins him over with a “great” television show idea.

It appears that SNL was attempting to move Chandling out from behind the “Weekend Update” desk (where he has appeared twice) and possibly into a recurring sketch role. Mooney has been one of the break-out performers this season, so it would make sense to give one of his characters a higher profile.

Unfortunately, “Comedy Club” didn’t make it on air, but thanks to SNL‘s almost weekly posting of unaired sketches online, we still get to witness the sad world of Bruce Chandling.

“Comedy Club” guest stars Dave Attell, Artie Lange, and Beck Bennett as Ronnie Donnyonyae.
