A prevalent complaint (also voiced by me) about the trailer for Batman v Superman is that it completely lacked any sense of fun. One fan who agreed with that sentiment actually did something about it.
Bobby Burns cut a new version of the two-minute clip with footage from Christopher Reeve’s Superman movies and the old Adam West Batman TV show. The “retro style” trailer can’t complete avoid the dark, grim tone, as it’s kept the audio track from Zack Snyder’s actual preview. But the gloom mixed with the camp (especially with the West Batman clips) adds a layer of funny to the thing.

Personally, I can never get enough of seeing West as Batman holding a bomb over his head while running around a pier, trying to find a place to get rid of it. I think there could have been some different clips used, especially during Jeremy Irons’ grim monologue to Ben Affleck about the rage that turns good men cruel. Oh, and when Batman asks Superman if he bleeds, there should have been the scene from Superman II in which a trucker beats up a de-powered Clark Kent.
But that’s really nitpicking. I admire anyone who takes the time to compile footage and splice one of these videos together. And anything that lightens the mood of that Batman v Superman trailer a bit is all right with me.
