Watch: Trevor Noah gets ready to take over ‘The Daily Show’

Trevor Noah has been a controversial choice to replace Jon Stewart as host of The Daily Show. But for those who held out hope that Comedy Central might rethink its decision and tab someone else for the fake news anchor chair, the network made it clear that Noah is still happening with an ad touting his debut.

Noah will officially take over on Sept. 28, as you can see here.

Those not happy with Noah succeeding Stewart will surely be irritated by the visual of the young upstart getting comfortable in that chair and making bold proclamations (“I AM THE DAILY SHOW!”) about taking over the show. It’s like moving your furniture into a house before closing on the sale! It’s like printing up “World Champions” t-shirts before winning the final game!

OK, not quite. I mean, we’ve known since late March that Noah was the new guy.

Stewart’s final appearance as host of The Daily Show will be Aug. 6. That gives you 10 more weeks to savor and appreciate him, and to pay proper tribute. Or you have 10 more weeks to enjoy your Noah-free late-night, if that’s how you prefer to look at the situation.
